The Headline

Tornadoes 2 made it two wins from two in the South East Regional League with a 21-16 victory over Cambridge City 1 at Rochester Grammar School for Girls. The five-korf margin lifts them to second and keeps early pressure on leaders Bearsted 1.

The Match

On Sunday 4 October 2026, Tornadoes 2 set the tone with a composed, high-tempo performance that repeatedly forced Cambridge City 1 to defend longer spells than they wanted. The hosts looked more settled in their transitions between attack and defence, and when City did find a way into the post area, Tornadoes generally recovered well to prevent any sustained run.

In a game that finished 21-16, Tornadoes’ spread of scoring and ability to keep chipping away at key moments proved decisive, while Cambridge City’s reply came in bursts rather than a continuous stretch of control. The visitors competed hard, but too often had to work for a single korf at a time as Tornadoes managed the rhythm and territory.

The final margin of five reflects a match where Cambridge City were never fully out of it, but also one where Tornadoes rarely looked like surrendering command once they had their noses in front. It is an eye-catching early result in a season that still has a long way to run, but it reinforces Tornadoes 2’s credentials as a side capable of stacking wins quickly.

What It Means

• Tornadoes 2 move up to 2nd with 4 points from 2 games (GD +11), sitting 2 points behind leaders Bearsted 1; their form now reads WW.
• The hosts are 2 points off promotion at this early stage and have already built a healthy platform, 4 points clear of relegation with 48 league games still to be played across the division.
• Cambridge City 1 remain 4th on 1 point from 2 games (GD -5), with away form now LD; they are 5 points behind the leaders and 5 points off promotion.
• For City, the immediate task is turning competitiveness into results: they are only 1 point clear of relegation and will want to stop the gap to the leading pack stretching further.
• In the wider title picture, Tornadoes’ perfect start keeps Bearsted 1 honest near the top, while the chasing group behind them is already being shaped by who can convert tight periods into points.
